AS/NZS 4024.1601:2024 is the current joint publication identified publicly and is identical to ISO 14120:2015. Confirm current status before specifying. Does this standard cover interlock device selection?

It addresses guards themselves. Interlocking devices associated with guards are treated separately in AS/NZS 4024.1602.

Does a fixed guard always mean welded in place?

The relevant classification depends on how the guard is held and removed, not a marketing label. Confirm the design against the current standard and risk assessment.

Can I use a modular perimeter system?

Modular systems can support many fixed and movable guard layouts, but suitability depends on the machine hazards, access, safety distances, mounting and the complete safeguarding system.
